October’s featured photographer is Renata Bolívar

Colombian photographer and artist. Renata earned her studies in documentary photography at Efti School in Madrid. She continued her education in photographic production and editing at ICP School in New York.

In her professional career, she has worked in different fields of photography such as; photojournalism, architecture, portraits, among others. Yet, she has mainly dedicated her personal work to documenting what has not yet been told, she says.

Currently based in Bogotá, she shows us through her last photographic work Vestiges: Highway Nights a way of seeing in the darkness of the evening. Renata goes through situations that were previously considered as high risk in a country like Colombia. Now she looks to show us that hidden Colombia that you have never seen before.

The series has been exhibited at Feria del Millón (Colombia) and most recently displayed at Photoville FENCE where it will travel through eleven different cities in the United States.

Vestiges: Highway Nights

In vestiges, time and the beauty of the night are intertwined closely together.

Each photo reveals a different structure lit through colourful flashes on desolate Colombian roads, creating an urban landscape in the darkness of the night. A concern to discover who inhabits these lonely territories is a question in the photographer’s mind. Beyond documenting these somewhat sculptural locations these photographs depict moments of roads that appear and disappear in vestige of the night.

V E S T I G I O S
