January’s featured photographer is Cecilia Reynoso

Cecilia Reynoso lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied Cinematography Direction at the University of Cinema in Argentina. She has done several photography workshops including with Juan Travnik and Julieta Escardó.

In 2009, Reynoso began to photograph her family at different gatherings. She describes her work as an universe of photos that turn around the 16 members of her family.

Interior Fauna

Buenos Aires, 27th March 2020 / 3rd May 2020

During the first 30 days of quarantine I impulsively photographed. An excess of productivity in order to avoid a feeling of fear in the face of so much uncertainty. This small series of photos is my diary of the confinement, where the perception of the limit between the fictitious and the real is indifferent. The animals that were outside, walking through the empty streets, enter our home to accompany us and give us some fresh air. The sun coming through the windows is now sacred at home. My gaze stops at the corners and plants of the house as if they were new spaces. Games with my son and his constant boredom only delay the strangest time we ever lived.

Cecilia Reynoso vive y trabaja en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Estudió Dirección de Cinematografía en la Universidad de Cine de Argentina. Ha realizado varios talleres de fotografía incluyendo con Juan Travnik y Julieta Escardó.

En 2009, Reynoso comenzó a fotografiar a su familia en diferentes reuniones. Ella describe su trabajo como un universo de fotos que giran alrededor de los 16 miembros de su familia.

Durante los primeros 30 días de cuarentena fotografié de manera impulsiva. Un exceso de productividad que intentaba soslayar la sensación de miedo ante tanta incertidumbre. Esta pequeña serie de fotos es mi diario del encierro, en donde la percepción del límite entre lo ficticio y lo real es indiferente. Los animales que estaban afuera, caminando por las calles vacías,  entran a nuestro hogar para acompañarnos y darnos un poco de aire fresco. El sol que entra por las ventanas ahora es sagrado. Mi mirada se detiene en rincones y plantas de la casa como si fueran espacios nuevos. Los juegos con mi hijo y su aburrimiento constante no hacen más que demorar el tiempo más extraño que nos tocó vivir.
