Born in Peru, raised in Bolivia, Mexico, USA, Chile and Argentina. Open-water swimmer and member of Las Truchas Peru.
Ana Sotelo van Oordt is a documentary photographer and filmmaker. Her work focuses on gender narratives and on how humans interact with their environment. Ana looks to create images that change the way we perceive strength and femininity
Mujeres del Agua (Women of the Water)
In this photographic series I call on women to leave their inhibitions on land and to live a moment of connection, freedom and support in different bodies of water.
Through the image I explore the concept of freedom and female liberation and I seek that both the participants and the viewer question social prejudices and the dominance of patriarchy over women and over the nature that surrounds them. I also seek to expose the different forms that the female body has, under a framework that invites the participants to show off as they are.
The series is born at the end of the world, in Puerto Natales, Chile, and covers different bodies of water in Chile and Peru.

La fotógrafa del mes de agosto es Ana Elisa Sotelo van Oordt
Soy fotógrafa documental y cineasta. Mi trabajo se centra en las narrativas de género y en cómo los humanos interactúan con su entorno. Busco crear imágenes que cambien la forma en que percibimos la fuerza y la feminidad.
Nacida en Perú, criada en Bolivia, México, USA, Chile y Argentina. Pilota de drones, nadadora de aguas abiertas y miembro de Las Truchas Perú.
Mujeres del Agua
En esta serie fotográfica convoco a mujeres a dejar sus inhibiciones en tierra y para vivir un momento de conexión, libertad y sostén en distintos cuerpos de agua.
A través de la imagen exploro el concepto de libertad y liberación femenina y busco que tanto las participantes como el espectador cuestionen los prejuicios sociales y el dominio del patriarcado sobre la mujer y sobre la naturaleza que las rodea. Tambien busco exponer las distintas formas que tiene el cuerpo femenino, bajo un marco que invita a las participantes a lucirse tal cual son.
La serie nace en el fin del mundo, en Puerto Natales, Chile, y recorre distintos cuerpos de agua en Chile y Peru.
